The purpose of the Traffic Unit is to develop and maintain a safe traffic environment for the citizens and guests of the City of Bossier City. Its duties include, but are not limited to, radar assignments, directing traffic, funeral and special escorts, special events, and to assist the patrol division by working vehicle crashes within the city.
In the event of adverse weather, members of the unit patrol in police cruisers. While enforcing traffic laws, the Traffic Unit gives special emphasis to high accident locations, school zones, neighborhoods and complaint areas. The unit is also a valuable public relations element of the Bossier City Police Department and makes appearances at many community events such as National Night Out, Law Enforcement Kids Day and the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
