The Bossier City Police Department's Special Operations Services (SOS) team is a highly trained group of officers tasked with the responsibility of handling and resolving high-risk situations. Utilizing team tactics, specialized equipment and multiple tactical skills, SOS is charged with handling hostage rescue operations, armed and barricaded suspects, high risk warrant entries and any other situations requiring the team's skills and abilities.
Medical Unit
In 2004, the Bossier City Police Department entered into a unique partnership with the Bossier City Fire Department and became the first area law enforcement agency to add tactical medics to the unit. The medic element of SOS consists of specially trained Bossier City Fire Department paramedics who are tasked with providing advanced emergency medical care while on the scene of a SOS mission.
Training
SOS trains regularly to maintain proficiency and expand their mission capabilities.
