Emergency Medical Service Division

Mission

The mission of the Bossier City Fire Department's Emergency Medical Service is to reduce the amount of pain and suffering of the citizens and guests of our city by providing the highest level of quality pre-hospital emergency care possible.

Services

We currently have 4 ALS units which respond 24 hours a day to serve the City of Bossier City. The EMTs and Paramedics of the Bossier city Fire Department are some of the most highly trained in the country. They maintain certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Many of our personnel are Hazardous Materials Technicians and Rescue Divers. We follow the American Heart Association guidelines for Cardiac Resuscitation and update our personnel as new guidelines are published.

Medical

Medical Direction is provided by Dr. Michael Williams. Dr. Williams is involved in all aspects of medical care provided by the Bossier City Fire Department Division of EMS. He plays an active role in Education, Protocol development and Continuing Quality Improvement. Dr. Williams also responds to EMS calls, interacting with EMS personnel and providing on scene medical direction.

Response

Our average response time to any location in Bossier City is less than 5 minutes. While our staff is en route to the scene of the emergency, Communications Division gives First Aid instructions to the caller such as CPR and bleeding control instructions.
