Early tomorrow morning, February 7,
2019, Shady Grove residents will see an abundance of first responder vehicles
near the H.L. Aulds Branch Library during a planned disaster and emergency
response drill. This drill is a continuation of a coordinated effort between
the Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, Bossier
Parish Library System, Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Bossier City Police
and Fire Departments to bring emergency training and awareness to a different
library campus each year.
The exercise is designed to test the
library staff’s knowledge of their emergency plans. It also serves as
additional emergency response training for first responders. Different
scenarios will be acted out, including a severe weather threat, hazardous
materials event, and security issues.
There will be first responder
vehicles near the facility. Those in the area may also see smoke, hear the
sound of simulated gun fire, and see volunteers running from the building or
being assisted by first responders. Residents in the area should not be alarmed
as it is only a drill. The drill will begin at 7:30 am and is
expected to last for approximately two hours.
