Traffic Engineering Division

Areas of Responsibility

  • Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of traffic signals, traffic signs and roadway lighting within its jurisdiction. Perform traffic studies regarding the need for and the design of traffic control devices and their operational effectiveness. Respond to citizen's concerns in a positive and timely manner.
Traffic Stop Area
  • Operate and maintain 65 LADOTD, 10 City and 4 Parish traffic signals and associated equipment.
  • Operate and maintain 9 overhead school zone speed reduction flasher.
  • Operate and maintain roadway lighting systems on I-20, I-220, US79/80 (LA782-2 to I-220), US71 (LA511 to McDonald Street), Shreveport-Barksdale Bridge (westbound span), Texas Street Bridge (east half), LA 3 Overpass, Arthur Ray Teague Parkway, Riverside Drive, Traffic Street, River Colony Drive, Louisiana Boardwalk parking lots, Beene Boulevard, Meadow Creek Drive, Green Acres Drive, Cyber Innovation Center and Barksdale Boulevard (Hamilton Road to Traffic Street).
  • Build, install and maintain regulatory, warning and guide traffic control signs as well as miscellaneous message signs within the division’s jurisdiction.
  • Perform traffic studies and crash analysis as needed regarding roadway and traffic control improvements.
  • Provide traffic data to organizations and individuals for planning purposes.
  • Report all other street lighting to AEP/SWEPCO for maintenance and new installations.
  • Assist the other departments in the City.
