Submarine Veterans' Memorial Ceremony
2003
Mayor George Dement joined fellow submarine
veterans in a special memorial ceremony on April 10, 2003
at the Bossier-Caddo Veterans Memorial located in front
of the reflecting pool at the Bossier City Municipal Complex.
The service was held in conjunction with the U.S. Submarine
Veterans of World War II South Central Regional Convention.
The convention brought together submarine veterans from
Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma who served during
World War II. During the ceremony Mayor Dement, who served
the duration of World War II on the submarine USS Razorback,
participated in the Roll Call of the Boats in which he
read off the names of each of the 52 submarines lost during
World War II. The ceremony honored the more than 3500 sailors
who lost their lives those submarines.
