Liberty Garden Goundbreaking 2002
Ground was broken June 11, 2002 for the
Bossier City Liberty Garden on the grounds of the Bossier
City Municipal Complex. The Liberty Garden is sponsored
by the Bossier City Clean City Committee and will honor
the firefighters, police officers and sheriff’s deputies
who have died in the line of duty. It will also pay tribute
to those who lost their lives in the September 11 terrorist
attacks against the United States. It will be a public
place of meditation and enjoyment where citizens of all
ages, races and creeds can come together to reflect on
the lives lost and to celebrate our commitment to the principles
of freedom and liberty on which our great country was created.
The project will cost $140,000 to construct
and will be funded by individuals who purchase an engraved
paving brick for $50. Contributors of $1000 or more will
be acknowledged on a commemorative plaque. A $50,000 loan
from the City of Bossier City will provide immediate funding.
