The Bossier City Fire Department responded to a fire in the 100 block of Wyche Street on February 15, 2010 that destroyed one home and heavily damaged another.

The first crews got to the scene within three minutes after the call came in at 11:39 a.m. Upon arriving they found one home fully engulfed in flames which had already spread to a house next door due to high winds. The fires produced think black smoke that reportedly could be seen from several miles away. It took firefighters approximately 20 minutes to bring the fires under control.

Six people were inside the first house while nine were in the second, all of whom escaped without injury. The Bossier City Fire Department has made arrangements to find temporary shelter and clothing for the occupants of both homes as part of its fire victim assistance program. The program has been in place for the past several years and is funded by a benefactor who wishes to remain anonymous.

An investigation by the BCFD Fire Prevention Bureau has determined the fire started when a three year old boy playing with matches set a couch on fire inside the first home.
