A water boil advisory has been issued for a portion of an unincorporated area of Bossier Parish that's on the Bossier City water system.

The advisory affects the Benton Road corridor from Wemple Road north to Cash Point Road and includes the 2400 block of Vanceville Road, Flower Brook Road, the Colony subdivision and the Maplewood Mobile Home Park.

The advisory was issued due to a 12" water main at the intersection of Vanceville Road and Benton Road being damaged this morning during a construction project. The boil advisory is required by the state since water service in the affected area has been turned off while the line is repaired.  Those repairs are expected to be completed and water service restored by early this evening.

Due to state regulations, whenever a boil advisory is issued it must be made public by advising local news media.

The advisory is a precautionary measure and recommends residents in the affected area to voluntarily boil their water for at least one minute before consuming it until the advisory is lifted. The advisory pertains only to water used for consumption. Again the advisory is only a precautionary measure. This is a boil advisory, not a boil order.

The city will notify the media when the advisory is lifted.
