UPDATE: This boil advisory was rescinded today after a water test confirmed no contaminants.

(Original news release issued May 5, 2017)

The City of Bossier City has issued a boil advisory for a portion of Bossier City that receives water from the city.  The advisory is for residents and businesses along and west of US Hwy 71 South between Davidson Drive and Research Station Drive past Sligo Road.

At approximately 12:00 p.m. Friday a contractor performing work in the 5300 block of US Hwy 71 accidentally ruptured a water main that flows water to the area.  Crews have been mobilized to make the necessary repairs.  However, until the repairs are complete, customers within this area will temporarily not have water or low water pressure.

he advisory is a precautionary measure and recommends those in the affected area boil their water for one minute before consuming it until the advisory is rescinded. The advisory pertains only to water used for consumption. Again the advisory is a precautionary measure and not a boil order.

The city will notify the media when the advisory is rescinded.
