Traffic Street will be closed to thru traffic from the Horseshoe Casino entrance to Broadway Street beginning March 29 until approximately April 29.

The extended closure is being done to help the contractor expedite the completion of the Traffic Street widening project and possibly have the work done by late fall, earlier than the originally expected completion time of spring 2012.

During the closure, signs will be in place on I-20 informing motorists to use Hamilton Road to get to the Louisiana Boardwalk. Detour signs will also be in place to direct motorists to use Hamilton Road as an alternative north-south route between East Texas Street and Barksdale Boulevard. Motorists will still be able to access Horseshoe Casino from I-20 via Traffic Street.
