Detectives with the Bossier City Police Department's Property Crimes Unit have arrested a Shreveport teenager for burglarizing a Bossier City church last week and causing some damage in the process.Detectives arrested 18-year old Demetrius Anthony Thomas this morning for simple burglary of a religious building.

Thomas is accused of breaking into Waller Baptist Church and preschool in the 400 block of Waller Avenue during the overnight hours of December 27-28, 2011. Among the items taken in the burglary were a flat screen TV, a digital photo camera, a digital video camera and some cash. During the break in Thomas also damaged several doors by kicking them in to gain entry to offices. As a result of the burglary, the church preschool had to close for the day on December 28 so that detectives could process the crime scene.

In the course of their investigation detectives developed Thomas as a suspect and made contact with him this morning at his residence in the 1000 block of Quail Creek Road in Shreveport. Thomas was subsequently arrested upon being questioned at police headquarters.

Thomas was booked in to the Bossier City jail. Bond has not yet been set.
