POSITION TITLE: Equipment Operator    (Water Distribution)

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  Must be able to perform all duties of an Equipment Operator.  Responsible for repairing water mains, water services lines, water meters and fire hydrants. Must be able to work in various work and weather conditions. Requires driving, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing. Requires the operation of large equipment such as Backhoes, Track hoes, Bobcats, and any other equipment that is needed to accomplish the job.  Employee is subject to 24-hour call.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Must have a valid CDL license.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:   Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and methods used in various building or mechanical trades.  Knowledge of related occupational hazards and safety precautions.  Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to use mechanical equipment and operator large machinery/equipment. Must be able to perform work requiring physical strength and endurance.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:   High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.  Experience in performing manual maintenance repair or construction work; or an equivalent of training and experience. Employee is required to have a valid State Class I Certification in Water Distribution prior to hire and will be responsible for obtaining a State Class II Certification in Water Distribution within one year from hire date. Must have a valid CDL License.
