Bossier City Mayor Lorenz "Lo" Walker will take part in the dedication of a new patriotic feature in Bossier City known as the Veterans Avenue of Flags on Saturday, July 4, 2009 during a special ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. in front of Barksdale Federal Credit Union, 700 Northgate Road.

The Veterans Avenue of Flags will consist of approximately 100 United States flags that will be on display along a half mile stretch of Northgate Road from Patricia Drive to the Bossier Gate of Barksdale Air Force Base. The flags will line Northgate Road on both sides of the roadway and will be displayed on holidays and special occasions.

The 156th Louisiana Army National Guard Band will perform at the dedication and the Barksdale Air Force Base Honor Guard will make the presentation of all the military services colors. The project is a joint partnership with the Retirees Affairs Office at Barksdale Air Force Base, Johnny Welsh Memorial VFW Post 5951 and the City of Bossier City.

The public is invited to attend the dedication ceremony.
