In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, local scouts will join Keep Bossier Beautiful and BPCC Green in planting 100 trees at the North Bossier Park, 4307 Old Brownlee Road this Saturday, March 20, 2010.
Before the tree planting begins Mayor Lorenz "Lo" Walker will present the scouts with a proclamation in honor of their centennial during a brief ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. Mayor Walker will be joined by Bossier Parish Administrator Bill Altimus, who also serves as Chairman of the Bossier District of the Norwella Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The ceremony will take place at the pavilion next to the parking lot off of Old Brownlee Road.
The event not only add to the beauty of the North Bossier Park for future generations to enjoy but will also replenish the park with trees after many were lost in the tornado that struck north Bossier City on October 30, 2009.
