The Louisiana Municipal Association has presented its most prestigious award to the City of Bossier City for its outstanding work in developing and constructing the city's two alternative fueling stations. Mayor Lorenz Walker was presented with the LMA's Community Achievement Award at the association's annual convention banquet held this past Saturday night at the Shreveport Convention Center. Bossier City took home the top prize in the Community Development category for municipalities with population of 25,001 and over.

"It is my honor to accept this award on behalf of the citizens of Bossier City," said Mayor Lorenz "Lo" Walker. "The city's two alternative fueling stations are taking Bossier City to the next level in becoming a Green Community by providing compressed natural gas and E-85 fuel to the public as well as to businesses and governmental entities. I am grateful to all our staff and city council members for helping make the fueling stations a reality."

The city's first alternative fueling station opened at 2580 East Texas in the fall of 2010. Work on the second station located at 4520 Barksdale Boulevard is nearly complete and is scheduled to open later this month.

The City of Bossier City has been awarded this LMA top award in the past seven consecutive years for the Viking Drive Business and Industry Service Center and Small Business Incubator Project, Louisiana Boardwalk, North Bossier Park, Benton Road Overpass, Tinsley Park Softball/Baseball Complex and Cyber Innovation Center.
