The Department of Louisiana Veterans of Foreign Wars honored two members of the Bossier City Fire Department this past weekend for their outstanding service by awarding them top state honors.
Stacey Madden was awarded the Louisiana VFW's Outstanding Firefighter Award and Jay Allen was honored as the recipient of the Louisiana VFW's Outstanding Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic Award.
Madden and Allen were presented their awards on Saturday, January 30, 2009 in Alexandria during the organization's mid-winter state conference. Madden has been a member of the Bossier City Fire Department since 1988 while Allen joined the department in 2000.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5951 in Bossier City nominated Madden and Allen for theAnnual awards. Both were selected for the top state honors from a pool of nominations submitted by VFW posts across Louisiana.
Madden and Allen will now be placed in nomination for national VFW honors in the respective categories.
