Benton Road Overpass
The booming economy has
brought a booming freight business back to the railroad
industry, but has created problems for those who have
to drive, live and work along the tracks. Freight trains
are now longer and more frequent than they used to be,
blocking grade-level crossings, such as the Benton Road,
irritating drivers and worrying emergency response teams.
The City of Bossier City
has continually tried to work with the railroads to find
a solution to the frequently blocked crossings, but to
no avail.
However, with the new Benton
Road Overpass motorist will have an alternative to idling
at a railroad crossing. The new overpass will allow an
alternative for vehicles to travel via the overpass over
the KCS rail lines, when a train is on the tracks, leaving
the motorist happily traveling north and south on Benton
Road (LA Hwy.3). The existing Benton Road will still
be available for motorist to access the many businesses,
which are located along it. The new Benton Road Overpass
will give the citizens a long awaited solution to the
railroad crossing problems of Benton Road.
