Elizabeth Sherwin

As mayor of Haughton in 1976-1984, Ms.Sherwin was the first woman mayor in Bossier Parish and had been the first woman elected to the Haughton Town Council. She organized the Candy Striper Program at Bossier Medical Center in 1965 and the Haughton P.T.A. in 1947. Her projects as mayor included connecting all houses in Haughton city limits to the sewerage system, a new waste water treatment plant and a drainage program for flood prone areas.
