Carrie Martin

Carrie Martin, while still a very young teacher, became Bossier Parish’s Jeanes Supervisor, a multi-faceted job with responsibilities such as teacher training, supervising, curriculum development, teaching and community organizing in Bossier Parish’s African-American communities. She worked relentlessly for the Parish’s black children, including helping to establish the Bossier Parish Training School so that black children could get an education past eighth grade.
