Marco B. Woodyard 1910-1919
Mayor Woodyard, a manager with Southland Cotton Oil Company, served on Bossier’s first village council, was appointed to fill Mayor Hoyer's unexpired term in 1910, then was elected by popular vote.
In 1915 the Traffic Bridge, the first public bridge joining the cities of Shreveport and Bossier City was completed. Woodyard is also credited with bringing electrical service to Bossier City.
The time required for his mayoral duties, including sitting as City Judge, took him away from both his job at Southland and his large family. Mayor Woodyard resigned as Mayor of Bossier City in 1919. He died in May 1932 at the age of 73.
