Gordon B. Smith 1921-1925
Gordon Smith was elected to serve as Bossier City’s fourth mayor in 1921 after living in Bossier City for only a year. Born in Irene, Texas in 1875, Smith was a merchant in Homer, Louisiana. As a successful businessman, Smith also worked for a Real Estate firm in Bossier Parish.
During his time as Mayor, Smith secured the first waterworks for Bossier City, founded the Bossier State Bank, and on 14 March 1923, Bossier City was officially incorporated as a town. Following his service as Mayor, Smith served on the Bossier Parish School Board until his death in 1938.
