The Bossier City Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across Louisiana and the nation over the next three weeks in taking part in the seatbelt enforcement campaign “Click It or Ticket.”
As part of the campaign Bossier City police officers will be stepping up seatbelt and child safety restraint enforcement in an effort to increase vehicle safety restraint usage and ultimately to save lives.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the most recent numbers show seatbelts saved more than 14,500 lives during 2016. While not all crashes are survivable, seatbelts can greatly decrease the odds of dying in a crash and reduce the extent of injury.
“Click It or Ticket” runs May 14 through June 3. The Bossier City Police Department’s participation is funded with federal grant money distributed through the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
