WELCOME TO BOSSIER CITY!

Message from the Mayor.....

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the City of Bossier City. We are located along the east bank of the Red River across from Shreveport in Northwest Louisiana. Bossier City is a growing metropolitan area with more than 65,000 residents.

There are many diverse attractions in our area. Barksdale Air Force Base, home of the 8th Air Force and 2nd Bomb Wing, is located within Bossier City limits. Bossier City is also home to three major riverboat casinos: Harrah's Horseshoe, Diamond Jacks, and Boomtown. Harrah's Louisiana Downs, a first-class thoroughbred racetrack with slot machines, is located on the east side of the city.

Bossier City is blessed with a mild climate, ample housing, a low tax base, and easy access by major highways including I-20, I-49, I-220, US Hwy. 80, 71, 171, and State Hwy. 3. The Shreveport Regional Airport is located just seven miles from Bossier City via I-20.

We invite you to take some time to visit our city and experience our outstanding quality of life, including beautiful parks and open spaces, cultural events, and great restaurants. From the fabulous Louisiana Boardwalk with its unique retail stores to world-class entertainment, Bossier City is poised to deliver a memorable experience to our guests. Step out onto the banks of the Red River and take in the glorious sights, sounds and sensations of Bossier City. Once you do, we believe you will agree that Bossier City is a great place to live, visit, work and raise a family.

We welcome the opportunity for you to experience first-hand the warm, southern hospitality of Bossier City.

Mayor Lorenz "Lo" Walker
